Most people
have pictures in the house, portraying people, of whom they have no notion
who they are.( is this the case in your house?) Our parents and
grandparents, who could have answered our questions, are long gone. Not
everybody is interested in those portraits. Most of the time, not knowing
what to do with them, those often-faint images end up in the trash can. If
we don’t throw them away our children surely will. A pity, because each
and every picture represents a piece of history. A history to which
the Vittali`s too have made their contribution. Betty Vittali, daughter of the late PW Vittali from the Weesperstraat, owns the pictures shown above. Based on the quality of the paper, composition and clothing we believe that the picture on the left was made around 1920. The picture on the right was probably taken a bit later approximately 1930. We are sure all these ladies are Vittali`s. The question is what was their first name. Who’s daughters are they? To whom where they married? Do you have an answer?
